Apartment Cleaning 101

Spring has well and truly sprung and you know what that means… SPRING CLEANING time! Shake the cobwebs off the duster and pop the cleaning gloves on… it’s time to get busy.
But, who really has the time to do a Spring clean each week? Imagine how easy cleaning would be if little bits were done each day. Well, I’ll let you in on a few tips to help cut back your Saturday cleaning session.

  1. Bathroom
Invest in a $2 squeegee and keep it hanging in the shower. After each shower, wipe down the screens/walls your new tool. You’ll be surprised at how much grim it swipes off.
And now for disinfectant wipes. These bad boys are about to become your best friend. Use one to quickly wipe down your toilet, then get a fresh one to clean your sink. You can also spot clean the floor using a wipe if you notice any marks. And for those who've got a stash of baby wipes in each nook and cranny, use them to wipe down surfaces - non-toxic and does the trick! Easy right?

  1. Kitchen
I don’t know about you, but I cannot keep the stove top spotless after a good bout of spag bol! My hot tip here – as soon as you’ve finished cooking dinner and the hot plates have cooled down – give the stove a quick wipe over with a damp cloth. Let me tell you, this 60 second exercise will save you a lot of scrubbing time.

  1. Bedrooms

There’s nothing nicer (ok there is, but this is pretty good!) than pulling the sheets and doona back right before jumping into bed after a hard day’s work. A freshly made bed is a MUST. Making your bed as soon as you hop out of it is the first task you’ve completed for the day. What a way to start, huh.

  1. Everywhere else

Keep a hand held vacuum handy and when you spot the odd crumb, zap it up! It saves you a lot of time when you need to do the entire floor space.

Every few days, tidy up and put away items; try and keep clutter to a minimum. Fluff up the cushions and throw rugs on the couch. It’s amazing what a little aesthetically-pleasing task such as this, can do!

After all, an organised home = an organised mind.
